Parks are one of the best ways to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. These green spaces are also prime spots for outdoor activities and events, such as movie screenings, concerts, holiday markets, hiking, and ice skating. There are many parks in NYC, so finding the right one for you can be difficult. But don’t worry!
235th Street Park
235th Street Park is a clean and safe neighborhood park for kids to play. There’s a waterpark, rock climbing boulders, and a small playground. During summer, the park is packed with families enjoying the waterpark. There’s also a splash pad that turns on at noon. It’s not as large as other parks but it’s a lot of fun for the family! It’s also gated so it’s easier to keep an eye on the kids.
El Camino Park
A large-scale park with a lot of amenities, this 29.5-acre space is a great place to burn off some steam. It features a baseball field, two basketball courts, a handball section, and a playground. The park also has several amenities including group and individual picnic/barbecue facilities, soccer/football fields, a dog park, and the city’s largest water reservoir. Siegfried was proud to have been involved with the design of this impressive piece of public infrastructure.
Lazy Meadow Park
Tucked away in a residential neighborhood a few blocks off Crenshaw, this is one of the most underrated parks around. It’s got everything from a small baseball field to an interestingly shaped tree, all in the name of the great outdoors. There’s also a free concert series that’s been going on for years and is probably the most fun to watch. The park is also home to a small water playground, which may be the park’s most fun feature.
Cabrillo Park
Cabrillo Park is a neighborhood park that offers picnic areas, a fitness court/studio, tennis courts, and a multipurpose field. It is also pet-friendly. The park also features a statue of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo; the first European to land in what is now the United States. You can also view tide pools and epic views of San Diego Bay. This park is one of the most popular in the country and it’s well worth a visit. It also hosts events throughout the year, so check to see if any are taking place while you’re there!
137th Street Park
Located in the Harlem neighborhood, 137th Street Park is a 31-acre city park with everything from tennis courts to a 400-meter running track. It also features an outdoor amphitheater, which hosts several performances throughout the year. Guests can spin the Totally Kid Carousel, or enjoy a picnic in the park’s vast shaded picnic area. Other amenities include two playgrounds, a teen center, and splashing water features.

Inglewood Park
Inglewood Park is a great place to bring the family for outdoor activities. It has a pool complex, an outdoor amphitheater, a Veterans’ Memorial Building, a community playhouse, and lots of green space. It is also home to the city’s most notable landmark: Inglewood Park Cemetery. This is the cemetery where many of the first settlers of the Centinela Valley and South Bay were entombed.
Pirate Ship Park
Pirate Ship Park is a fun playground with rocking boats, slides, and play panels. There is also a picnic area and baby bucket swings. Children of all ages will love this water adventure playground! Splash down on the Buccaneer Pirate Ship or cool off in our Lazy River. Kids can enjoy their favorite food and drinks at Jolly Roger’s Galley or Crow’s Nest. Or head over to the pool for some fun in the sun!
South Park
South Park is a cartoon about four elementary school boys who live in a fictional Colorado town. It features a variety of crass jokes, pop culture references, and scatological humor. South Park is known for its unique way of mocking hypocrisy and poking holes in pretension. The show also pokes fun at politics, celebrities, and the media.
